Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”) and other important things for you to know when you book your activities with Latchi Watersports Centre.

Boat Hire FAQ

Do I need a license to rent a boat?

You need to be over 18 years of age and hold a FULL car-driving license.

Fuel is charged on my return. How much is this going to be?

It depends on how you drive throughout your voyage. You leave with a full tank of fuel, and when you return, the boat is refuelled. Therefore, you will only pay for the fuel you have used, just like car hire.

Examples of average consumption.

  •  *50-80hp- 15-25.00 euros (max €90)
  •  *80-115hp- 20-30.00 euros (max €140)
  •  *115-150hp- 25-40.00 euros (max €280)
  •  *150hp- 35.00- 50.00 euros (max €280)
  •  *250hp- 35-70.00 euros (max €375)

*Please note that these prices are not fixed.

Ask for tips on efficient driving if you wish to save more fuel – albeit no customer has ever run out of gas.

What is the excess, and for how long is it blocked from my account?

The insurance excess is just in case of damage, much like hiring a quad bike or rental car. Boats up to 150hp are €350, and from 150hp+ is €850.

Your deposit is returned to your card immediately once you return your boat safely and in the same condition as was provided to you. For apple pay customers, it could take a couple of days to show in your account as the transaction is refunded rather than voided.

Do we get a life jacket?

Yes. Everyone gets a buoyancy aid that must be worn at all times.

What do I need to bring with me?
  • Your car driving license
  • A credit or debit card for your boat’s excess insurance deposit
  • DRINKING WATER
  • Sun cream
  • A towel
  • Food and drink (we will provide you with a cool box for use on your trip)
Is the price per person?

No. The price is for the boat.

Can we bring our dogs?

ABSOLUTELY. Especially adorable ones. We even have life jackets for dogs.

I booked a small boat, but there are now more people coming with us. How can I change my booking?

Drop us an email at [email protected] or give us a call +357 26 322 095. We will be happy to talk you through the different options, and please give us as much notice as possible when making a change to your booking.

How long is the trip?

We offer self-drive boat hire. Meaning it is just your group that goes out on the boat, so the trip is bespoke to you and your plans. We offer anything from 1-hour rental, 2 hours, 4 hours or the whole day. Time does fly. We recommend at least 4 hours.

Can we go to the Blue Lagoon? Is there anything else to see?

Yes! You can visit the Blue Lagoon. It is a popular hotspot in the height of the summer, so we show you the other bays, lagoons and beaches you can visit during the peak times. There is a beautiful secluded bay, lovely and calm for snorkelling, with crystal clear water. Another brilliantly blue bay has some sea caves into which you can snorkel. There is also a gorgeous quiet sandy beach – the list goes on. The coastline is approximately 9km long, with around eight different bays and lagoons in which you can anchor.

The topography under the water in the Akamas is stunning; there are many crevices, swim-throughs, caves and islands under the water to explore and find marine life.

Is diving dangerous?
