What does James Say?
James’s From top knot to top off in aid of the British Heart Foundation
I am going to shave my top knot off for British Heart Foundation because I want to raise awareness for the British Heart Foundation.
Thanks for visiting Justgiving. It’s really kind of you.
I’m raising money for the British Heart Foundation research and I’d be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK. However, sadly, every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It’s only thanks to great support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
I have been growing my signature top knot for nearly four years now.
Now I have finished university, its time for a change (so everyone has said). Therefore, much to my dismay for losing my hair, it is time to shave it but for a fantastic cause. The British Heart Foundation has been very close to my heart (no pun intended) since birth.
At birth, it was discovered I had a major heart defect which needed corrective surgery at just two weeks old.
I underwent nine hours of surgery at Killingbeck hospital Leeds; for Transposition of the great arteries and a large ventricular septal defect. My surgeon Mr Kevin Watterson still practices today but they have now closed Killingbeck and now practice all surgeries at LGI Leeds. Without this surgery, I would not be enjoying my life to the fullest as I am today. My family and I since then have embarked on a number of fundraising events. And this is a great way of giving support so that this essential work can continue.
I am now 21 years old and have taken every opportunity to not waste the life I was given by the fantastic doctors at Killingbeck hospital in 1997. I am currently working at Latchi Watersports Centre in Cyprus as a powerboat driver and general deckhand. It was one of the mechanics, Aidy, who had the idea to shave my head and then I jumped at the opportunity to do it for a worthwhile cause.
I want to give a massive thank you in advance to anyone who donates to the British Heart Foundation; no matter how big or small it is, it is all tremendously appreciated.
