Pristine Waters of the Akamas
When we said that the pristine waters of the Akamas were something special. We weren’t kidding!
These pristine waters are free for all of us to enjoy. Furthermore, if you want to dive off the Akamas, then you really need to talk to Latchi Dive Centre. Meet Steve ‘Scuba’ Harte
My name is Stevie but I prefer Scuba. I am from Co.Cork in Ireland. I am a water fanatic below and above. I started freediving intensely at 12, became an open water diver at 15 and became a divemaster at 18 years old, after completing a 4-month internship.
I have done somewhere in the region of 2500 to 3000 dives, I have no exact number for that, it’s in that region. I did my PADI Divemaster in the Canary Islands when I was 18, but then did a full time 9-month internship in Co. Kerry Ireland (including re-doing the divemaster course because I wanted to do it in cold conditions as well as hot).
After the 9 months in Ireland, at the age of 22, I qualified as a PADI instructor and boat captain. I have worked in West Ireland, English channel, Canary islands, on board Starclipper in West Indies, St Martin and of course Cyprus.
Favourite fish is the tiger shark because I want to be one in my next life! I can’t wait to come back to Latchi Dive Centre and Latchi Watersports for another exciting season!
