On Sunday 29th September a week later than planned (as the weather was against us) Latchi Watersports joined forces with SPP Media for our 5th Annual Akamas Beach Clean-up.
On the day we welcomed 100 volunteers to the centre. Many adults and children came from Nicosia, taking a few hours out of their day to help. Like us, they are determined to keep the Akamas free from rubbish and maintain its beauty.
Our volunteers divided into groups and boarded ten of our boats. Loaded with bags, gloves, water, wipes and sun cream, everyone headed to their designated beaches to work their magic. No space was left unturned. It was hot, and it was dusty, but we did it! We were able in the relatively short time that we had to remove more than 60 bags of rubbish from along the Akamas Peninsula coastline.
Before heading home, we gathered all our boats together to meet in the Blue Lagoon, for a well-deserved dip in the crystal-clear waters. We all enjoyed a light snack courtesy of our friends from Nicosia. They always bring pastries for us all to enjoy. When we returned to the harbour, we all unloaded our boats placing the rubbish in our waiting vehicles. Everything that could be recycled was taken to the relevant recycling points.

We are so immensely grateful to be able to live and work in this beautiful environment. We will continue to do all in our power to keep it as a clean and tranquil place for everyone to enjoy.
And as always, we want to thank Neo Chorio Municipality who donated gloves and bags, everyone who took time to help us and to those who offered but could not make it. We will see you next time.
