A 10 minute boat journey to the Zenobia –probably the Mediterranean’s most revered dive site, at 172 metres long and 10,000 tones, she is the largest accessible wreck in this sea. She sank on her maiden voyage to Cyprus on the 7th June 1980. The boat had a computerized ballasting system, on route to Larnaca the system developed a fault and she suffered a major list to port. A maintenance team went aboard, they corrected the list to 5 degrees, the captain dismissed them at 5pm on the evening of the 6th. At 2am on the 7th Zenobia started to roll and several hours later she laid down forever. The wreck and her full complement of 108 articulated lorries lay in 42 metres of water at her deepest, her starboard side is at 17 metres. Essentially everything is untouched, only through safety considerations have any of the lorries been cut free to allow them to settle.

Take in the sites of the huge propellers, the stern doors, the hanging lorries, and also the lorries on the seabed, one with hundreds of eggs on it. The fish life can be amazing, from shoals of barracuda to grouper fish, tuna and even trigger fish. Good on air?
